Achieving Warmth With Upholstered Beds

bedroom interior design

There is no doubt that winter is well and truly here - Melbourne is experiencing a particularly cold winter, and I can personally say that Sydney is not much warmer. In order to beat the winter chill opt for design and decorating elements with opulent textures and rich tones to ensure your home is both stylish and luxuriously comforting for the extra hours spent indoors. And what better place than to start than the bedroom with an elegant upholstered bed…

Upholstered beds are my go-to feature when it comes to a design revitalisation for the bedroom. With a plethora of materials on offer, not to mention the various design details (I personally can’t go past gorgeous button tufting or a nail head trim), a striking upholstered bed isn’t hard to find when sourcing designer furniture online. The difficulty, in my eyes, is deciding on just one design - The sumptuous chenille upholstery of my Newport Queen Bed, versus the distinct pattern featured in my Florette Queen Bed has left me pondering the winning virtues of both for hours…

It goes without saying, the softness of a sumptuous velvet upholstered bedhead, or the casual luxury of an elegant linen option, can’t fail to provide a bedroom with the desired indulgent effect – just a word of warning however, it will be these beds making the early morning rise that much harder, rather than the lacking Celsius.

Completing the bedroom aesthetic calls for considered bedside tables. It’s no secret I’m drawn to the contrast between a mirrored bedside table, the effect on showcase within my Brisbane showroom; the tall linen bedhead of my grand Max Sparrow Palermo Queen Bed contrasting with the sleek mirror finish of my Able Mirrored Side Table – creating a look perfectly suited to both the cooler months and the heat of the summer alike.

Alternatively for a look of pure sophistication (albeit with a touch of glamour), the arresting aesthetic of a metallic nightstand such as my Liana Taupe Silver Leaf Nightstand paired with the likes of my Parisian Old Silver Queen Bed certainly makes for an interior statement; the glamorous hue of the nightstands mirroring the sheen of the fabric and gold-leaf frame of the bed.

Upholstered bedheads call for longer hours in bed, and what better excuse than the cooler months of winter to indulge ourselves in a stylish sleep-in?
