One of my all time favourite coffee table books is the stunning Grandiflora Celebrations by local florist Saskia Havekes of Grandiflora, one of Sydney’s finest, and an influencer across interior styling, hospitality, fashion & editorial in addition to contemporary arranging. Underpinning her arrangements is the mantra that Grandiflora acts as a design studio, utilising flowers as the medium, and Grandiflora is certainly one studio known for pushing the boundaries in terms of innovation in floristry. The imagery always leaves me feeling inspired and looking to revamp my home.
It should come as no surprise that my tip for an elegant and easy interior re-fresh is simply that; fresh flowers and foliage to energise and update your interior. Not only pleasing to the eye, the scent even the most basic of arrangements provides can be intoxicating.
Floral arrangements are not just for a table’s surface. I particularly love the way creeping greenery and romantic red blooms adorn the oversized antler chandelier above this round dining table. Get the look with my Aspen Horn Chandelier, update your interior lighting and leave your dining table free for more plates (and wine). If you’re lacking hanging ceiling lights, but enjoy the benefits of a glass dining table, why not intertwine your foliage around and within the base?
Outdoor entertaining and dining is synonymous with the Australian lifestyle; to not to take advantage of our enviable environment would be a crime! Whether it's dinner for one or thirty-one, do it right with freshly cut flowers and leaves adorning your outdoor furniture.
The Side Table
Side tables, hall tables and consoles are all standard surfaces that benefit from fresh flora. Add a pot of flowers for an instant refresh with all the benefits, and might I add that colourful blooms are a non-committal way to experiment with colour in your space?
Let your entrance make a statement by pairing my Mason Side Table with a fishbowl full of exquisite hydrangeas, or pair the rich gold of Colombines with the gold petal inspired base of my new Riverdale Console. For a touch of sophistication, don’t go past the classic luxury of my Antibes Hall Table with a vase of statement making foliage...
The Bedside Tables
Your bedsides offer prime position for a subtle floral addition. Opt for smaller selections here; even one stemmed flower in a simple glass bottle can have lust-worthy effect on your bedroom aesthetic.
Do consider your vase when playing the role of florist. Some vases benefit from a smaller arrangement, while others will allow for a statement making floral artwork. Then again, some look stunning without your favourite blooms...
Longer Lasting Love
Looking for ever lasting blooms? Furniture and homewares designed in awe of natures creations are just the ticket... Keep you eye out for pieces with organic forms or patterns resembling your favourite flora for blooms that will never die.
