Warming Winter Trends

Here in Sydney I’m beginning to see morning fog over the harbour with commuters rugged up in dashing long coats and cashmere scarfs shying away from winter’s chill. I may not be a fan of the fast-approaching cold coming through the floorboards, but I do enjoy recreating my interiors to suit! I can’t help but reminisce of my childhood skiing holidays, European Christmases and warm drinks by the fire with conversations that lingered well into the night.

Instead of hibernating, I say, embrace winter and all its homely pleasures! What better way to celebrate the season with soft blankets and throws? None do it better than Bemboka, with their blend of Angora and Australian Merino wool from New Zealand. Warm, soft, and perfectly cosy for a spot of reading you can drape one across your sofa or armchair, or fold one at the end of your bed to curl up in when the temperature begins to drop.

As for  colour schemes, be inspired by a white Christmas in July. Use snow-white walls and naturally finished wooden furniture to create your own alpine retreat (rugs and cushions in greys, charcoals, soft blues and creams are a favorite of mine, just so you know).

Materials like rattan, wood, wool and linen will keep the room warm and natural while matching perfectly with neutrals. And for a final wintery touch, mimic the bare trees outside with twigs and branches as decorative installments, or wood and stone ornaments that hint at European Christmases once beloved...
